La Tomatina 2013 is just a month away! And it's not just for back-packers

Though not usually associated with luxury travel, La Tomatina features high on the list of bucket-list activities. thisisvalencia.com offers a way of experiencing the festivities that, while not the height of luxury, comes close to it, and attracts a more discerning visitor. La Tomatina takes place on the last Wednesday of August - this year it falls on the 28th August.
We take our guests to the Village of Buñol, where the food fight takes place. The tour includes an official wristband, issued by the town, that guarantees entry to the 'fight-zone'. After the fight, and a clean-up by the coach, it's on to a country leisure centre for showers, a swim, a delicious Valencian Paella with tapas, sangria and wine, followed by a relax by the pool. For the more energetic there is tennis, padel and even football. Then it's back to Valencia early evening and an optional Sunset catamaran tour and Discotheque.
The Tomatina tour costs just 75€ including lunch, swim and unlimited booze. There is an additional 10€ entry tax, newly imposed for 2013 by the town hall of Buñol.

Thisisvalencia is an online guide, in English, to the very Spanish City of Valencia, Spain. We aim to give the most up-to-date information on events happening in a city where almost everything happens without much advance warning - Valencians have a saying - 'Pensat i fet!' the literal translation is 'Think of something, and do it - Now!' Without our help, visitors might never find out if anything was happening!
We also give personal guided tours and organised tours to events such as La Tomatina and the mighty and glorious Las Fallas and hold the occasional event in and around the city.
